Job Title: Junior Strategic Analyst / JSPS & Plans Analyst

Overview: Mano Lani is seeking a junior-level Strategic Analyst / JSPS & Plans Analyst to provide strategic research, analysis, and operational support to the National Guard Bureau (NGB) J5-J. This role supports National Guard planning and decision-making by assessing federal and state National Guard activities, evaluating strategic guidance, analyzing policy and speeches, and assisting in meetings and workshops to maintain situational awareness. Mano Lani is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cybersecurity, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Research & Analysis: Conduct research, strategic estimates, and guidance assessments related to federalized and non-federalized National Guard operations. Deliver high-quality written analytical products with minimal rework.
JSPS & Key Document Assessment: Analyze guidance, senior leader inputs, and strategic documents (e.g., National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy, Unified Command Plan, Contingency Planning Guidance, Joint Strategic Campaign Plans, CCMD Plans, Global Campaign Plans).
- Produce written assessments identifying National Guard equities and implications within defined timelines.
Comparative Historical Analysis: Evaluate current and prior versions of key strategic documents to identify changes and operational impacts.
- Deliver concise summary reports adhering to NGB Joint Staff standards.
Strategic Contingency & Campaign Planning Support: Participate in working groups, exercises, and planning events.
- Provide written analytical inputs and briefing materials summarizing observations and National Guard implications.
Policy & Speech Analysis: Review government speeches, policy statements, and publications.
- Deliver documented analysis of National Guard implications within established timelines.
Meeting Coordination & Awareness: Schedule, coordinate, and participate in J5-J meetings, workshops, and reviews with ARNG, ANG, NGB-J5 staff, Joint Staff J-5, USINDOPACOM, USNORTHCOM, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare agendas, executive summaries, and post-meeting deliverables within two business days.
- Support approximately 90 events per year.
- Conduct meetings via Microsoft Teams or other electronic platforms when practical.
